Invisible Volume Piece — Clip-In, Straight or Wavy

This is not a wig. It is a single piece of hair on a row of small clips that sits underneath your own hair, near the crown, and gives you back the thickness that has gone. Your hair covers the top of it. Nobody sees the clips.

Who it is for

Women whose hair has thinned but who still have hair. If your parting has widened, or your ponytail has got thinner than it used to be, this is the cheapest honest fix we sell. If you have very little hair left to clip into, buy a headband wig or a full wig instead — this one needs something to hold on to.

What you have to do to it

Two things, and the pictures do not show either. Part your hair horizontally about an inch above the nape or behind the crown, clip the piece to the roots underneath, then comb your own hair down over it. And take a pair of scissors to the ends if the length does not match yours — straight off the packet it is a blunt cut, and blunt is what makes a hairpiece look like a hairpiece.

Shade matching

Buy the closest shade to your roots, not to your ends. It sits under your own hair, so the blend is far more forgiving than a wig — you are matching what is next to your scalp, not what is on show.

What it will not do

It cannot be dyed and it cannot be permed — synthetic fibre does not take colour or a chemical wave. Heat styling should be low and brief. If you want something you can colour, you want human hair.

Care

Cool water, a drop of conditioner, detangle wet from the ends up with a wide-tooth comb. Air dry flat. Do not store it folded — the crease will set.
